Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus, widely known as RR Campus, is one of the oldest, largest, and most renowned constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University. Established on 4 Bhadra, 2018 B.S., the campus began as Ratna Rajyalaxmi Girls’ College with only three girl students in the building of Guthi Sansthan at Putali Sadak, Kathmandu.
Located at Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu, in the heart of the capital city, RR Campus holds a historic and academic identity in Nepal’s higher education sector. The campus occupies around 8 ropanis of land, bordered by Exhibition Road to the east, Adwait Marg to the west, Kathmandu Model Hospital to the north, and Nepal Law Campus to the south.
In its early years, the campus offered Intermediate of Arts courses mainly for girls from Kathmandu Valley. It was upgraded to the Bachelor of Arts level in 2021 B.S. and later shifted permanently from Putali Sadak to Pradarshani Marg in 2024 B.S. Since then, it has continued to serve as an important academic center under Tribhuvan University.
In 2031 B.S., the college became co-educational and was renamed from Ratna Rajyalaxmi Girls’ College to Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus. This transformation made the campus open to students from all Nepalese families. Over time, RR Campus became widely recognized as a leading center for Humanities and Social Sciences education in Nepal.
The campus has played a significant role in promoting academic excellence, social awareness, and intellectual development. Its prime location, long academic history, and strong connection with Tribhuvan University have made it a preferred destination for students from diverse backgrounds.
RR Campus has offered various programs in Humanities and Social Sciences, including Nepali, English, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Psychology, Population Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Journalism and Mass Communication, Rural Development, and Social Work. The campus has also been closely associated with the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, which operates within the same premises and is equipped with modern photo, television, and radio labs.
Today, Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus continues its legacy as a prestigious constituent campus of Tribhuvan University. With thousands of students enrolled in different academic levels and programs, the campus remains committed to providing quality education, preserving academic excellence, and contributing to the development of higher education in Nepal.
